Question Installing a rear facing car seat in a 2007 Ford Ranger

I have a Britax Marathon 65 and would like to use it rear-facing in the front seat of a 2007 Ford Ranger truck. I want to make sure I am installing the seat correctly.

The Britax has the LATCH connectors and the versa-tether and the Ford Ranger has as a single tether strap anchor located behind the passenger seat.

Would the proper installation be to
1. use the combination lap shoulder belt to secure the the seat as instructed by the manufacture and,
2. use the versa-tether passing it under the passenger seat and securing it the Rangers tether strap anchor?

I appreciate the help. Thank you

Does your truck have a backseat?

You cannot tether to the seat the carseat is on. You'd install with the lap and shoulder belt and no tether, unless you can find a point down and in front of the seat. Generally in the front seat of a cab, there's nothing to tether to.

Make sure the airbag is off as well. If you have a backseat at all, even if it's fold down seats, you won't be able to turn off the airbag and so you cannot put a rear facing seat there.

Wendy, slightly off topic but in my old truck (02 Or 03 Dodge Dakota) we did have a "back seat" plus an air bag off switch on the dash. Is your statement only true for the OP's case? Thanks!

No, I thought it was a widespread statement since every truck I've been in that has any semblance of a backseat didn't have one. I'm glad to hear I'm wrong!
