Maestro question

My son is 3 and outgrowing an Uptown in my moms car. He probably has 1/2 inch to go before the straps are below his shoulders. He is FF in her car because he is about 33 lbs and with winter clothing coming I didn't want to worry about going over the 35lb RF limit. So the Maestro fits him great but my only question is does it go to 50 or 65 lbs?? All I can find locally is up to 50lbs at Target and TRU.

The Uptown is 40lbs forward-facing. The Maestro is 50lbs FF but with much higher top slots (18" iirc).

Ok I was thinking I read somewhere that the Maestro was going up to 65 lbs but couldnt find anything. Yes, we still have roughly 7-8 lbs left in the Uptown but no height...well maybe 1/2 inch so a Maestro is in his near future!

I'd get the maestro... no hesitation... I doubt he will outgrow it in weight first... haven't seen any kid do that.

Check the DOM for any Maestro you get. There was a recall (repair kit sent out) Mid October. Google Evenflo Maestro Recall 10-15-2010 for the DOM effected.

Also FYI while dealing with that recall for my seats, I discovered that the labels marked the seat as having a 6 year expiration date instead of the 8 year date it should have. The manual said 8 yrs, but the labels/stickers/warranty card said 6 yrs. There was no imprint into plastic of seat with a do not use by date. Just keep your eyes open.

Evenflo plans to test the Maestro to 65 lbs, but the timing on that change is unclear and likely delayed due to the recall of the earlier manufactured seats.

Based on how little growing room you have, I wouldn't wait for the higher weight limit Maestro.
