ex hit a deer going 30 mph... he said it wasn't a "crash" since it wasnt an abrupt stop... damage is mostly to the suspension... in the car was a MA & MR... replace them? thanks! :)
eta: seats werent occupied

The impact was severe enough to cause damage to the vehicle, to a portion that is designed to take repeated, severe jolts. It's a crash. :twocents:

MyRide gets replaced. Marathon goes by the minor crash criteria.

How is a crash, and abrupt start? A crash is often an abrupt stop. Britax follows the NHTSA guidelines, but Graco says replace after any crash.

NHTSA guidelines:
Replace seat if you can answer "yes" to any of the following:
1- There is damage to the door closest to the carseat
2- There is visible damage to the seat
3- The airbags deployed
4- Anyone in the car was injured
5- The vehicle was not able to be driven away fro the scene

Most insurance policies (if he has full coverage) have a very low to no deductible for car/deer accidents... but yah, I'd replace :)

nope, only liability... no deer coverage... he thinks the seats are fine which leaves me to replace them or let the kids ride in crashed seats (which isnt gonna happen)... ugh... looks like theyll be getting 40 lb sceneras... eww... i hate dorel... lol... dont have cash for anything else though...
