car seat & traveling

LO is 10 months - currently in Britax Chaperone. She's 19lbs and 26". We still have plenty of room in the Chaperone. Anyway, we are vacationing soon. Any idea if the Chaperone will fit securely in an airplane seat? What about a taxi cab? I know it's a long car seat and doesn't fit too well in some cars... I am really nervous that we'll get to our destination and find out that the car seat doesn't fit in the taxi.

I've read that many recommend the Combi Corocco for air travel. However, this is a rare occurrence for us. I really don't want to spend that kind of $ on a car seat which isn't going to last ERF. Any other ideas? I already have the Go-Go Kid (thanks to a coworker), so car seat weight isn't really an issue.

I'd leave the base at home and just travel with the seat. I don't know if it'd fit with the base on a plane, but without it will. Same in a taxi.

I haven't owned my Chaperone in a year so my memory might be fuzzy but I am fairly certain you can not install the base on an airplane.

The Chaperone seat isn't very long, it is the base with the anti rebound bar that takes up so much room. I agree leave the base at home and you should be fine (For the record the Chaperone without the base fit fine in my dh's VW Golf)
