Lesser of two evils

My nephew is 13 months. He is about 25 pounds and I am not sure on his height.

My mom is going to be keeping him for about a week. He rides RFing in a Scenera in his parents' car. However, my sister and BIL are HORRIBLE at installs. I have shown them and shown them, but they do an awful job.

I have dd's GN from dh's car that I can install in my mom's car for my nephew or my sister can install the Scenera. Which would be better: Rock solid FFing install that is top-tethered or a kinda okay RFing install? My mom is very good at having the harness snug and the chest clip appropriately placed, so no worries there. I am thinking the former is the best option, but want opinions from the techs.

It is not possible for me to install the Scenera properly as they live several hours away.

Thank you!

Can you arrange for a tech to meet your mom or sister to get the car seat installed correctly? If it's going to be in 1 car for an entire week, it's completely worth it.

Is "kinda okay" still within the 1"-of-movement rule? I'd take an acceptable but not shake-the-car RFing install over FFing any day -- but really, I'd try to find $50 and get your mom a Scenera that you can install.

They live in the boondocks, so no techs. The install is always several inches of movement in either direction. Just awful. I always reinstall the seat for them, show them how to do it, but they take it out to put in the sitter's car and just don't take the time to get it put back in properly. They did have it FFing when I saw him on his birthday even though I had drilled ERFing into their heads. They flipped him after I told them about Dorel's 34" rule. Thanks for the idea of picking up a Scenera for my mom. I hadn't thought of that. Duh! We will do that. Thanks again!
