has anyone started booster training without a booster?

DD kind of has the booster seat bug. She has seen some of her friends in them and thinks it would be a lot of fun. She is still way too wiggly in her seat and lacks impulse control and doesn't meet the legal requirements for where we live, so she won't be able to be in one at all until next summer.

Anyway, I've seen booster training recommended a lot. I had the thought that maybe I could start now with having her practice sitting still in her harnessed seat for periods of time. Just wondering if anyone has tried that in addition to or instead of booster training? Is it a silly idea?

It sounds like a good idea to me. If she is really wiggly and lacks impulse control then it sounds like she could benefit from some practice time before making the tranisition to a booster. And if she is wanting to sit in a booster now, then I would take advantage of that motivation and tell her she needs to practice sitting safely before she can try a booster. I would still expect to need to train her when she moves over to a booster, but at least if she is wanting to now then that would be motivation for her to start practicing sitting right.
