Question regarding the pricing of used seats

On our local CL there are a couple seats I'd like to get to use as demo-only seats. I'm willing to pay a fair price, but I'm not sure what fair would be.

Is there a formula you know of to decrease the value of a seat as it nears expiration date?

You take original purchase price, divide by years of life, then add up however many are left. If you are looking at almost expired seats, I'd start by offering $5.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I had a similar question. I am selling a Graco CarGo in excellent condition that expires in December 2013, Is $30 a fair price for it? It cost about $100 new.

I think it's actually what the price of the seat is NOW (if it's a current model) divided by the # of years.

(price of seat now/# months seat has)*months left
so, lets just say you are looking at a BLVD70 that goes for 300. DOM is June 2010. 6 year expiration= 72 usable months from DOM, only 67 usable months left.
(300/72)*(67)= 279 is fair.

Thanks. I emailed the lady back and she's not going to budge on the price of her seat...which as I figured it is too high...especially since there isn't too much time left on the seat and I'd only be using it as a demo.

She probably doesn't care what you do with it! Which seat is it?
