My little guy is complaining his straps on his true fit are too tight when I put him in it. When I ask him where, he keeps saying down there (crouch area). Does anyone else have this issue? I really dont think Iam making it to tight up around the shoulders but it does seem to be tight down there, like the crouch strap is comming out from under him. It has 2 different positions it can slide to and I have the farthest one out I can. He is 4 and rear facing and I tried putting it forwardfacing just to see if there is a difference but he still complains Alot!!!
Is there a chance the seat just doenst fit right there or do you think he is just complaing because he doesnt want to be in his seat?

thanks :)

How much does your son weigh? Torso length?
The crotch buckle is at it's most out position? I'd think (which I'm doing very quickly) is that the shoulder straps are a tad too tight if it's hurting him down there.
Is his bum all the way back when he's in the seat?

This is not the first time this problem has been mentioned on here: I'm sure your DS is *not* making it up or saying it because he doesn't want to be in his seat. I'm actually starting to think this is something that should be reported to First Years as it seems pretty common with boys (of course they have more sensitive "bits") and is, IMO, a real flaw with the seat design!

I'm on my phone so can't search them out for you but do try to see if you can find the other threads on this. One was called 'Truefit buckle too short?' if I recall. I will try to search later for you or perhaps someone else can.

In the meantime, congrats on keeping your DS RF to 4! If hes more comfortable when FF, I wouldn't hesitate to do that, but it might not help.

Sorry I can't offer you anything more at the moment,
Melissa

I has been mentioned before that the buckle seems too short for some kids. First thing I would do is make sure it is in the outermost position, as mentioned. My 3.5 year old (FF) sometimes complains it is too tight, but when he does I just unbuckle, tell him to scooch his bum back more, re-buckle and he always says it's fine. Sometimes I'll move his jacket or yank on his pants before re-buckling. I think in his case it might be something other than the buckle causing his discomfort and he just needs to re-adjust.

Here is a link to instructions for the "pinch test" for tightness:
