So, my friend has been having issues in the 3rd row of her van. The middle seat only has a lap belt (and no head rest) so is only suitable for a car seat. She had a booster outboard on one side, and a FF car seat on the other outboard. She didn't want the car seat in the middle because it's too tight to get the booster seat belt done up.
DS cannot sit in the booster. He slouches right down and always puts the belt behind her back. I have explained the dangers of this to her, and said he can still be in a 5pt harness for his weight but until now it seems to have gone in one ear and out the other.
So, today I said if she wanted she can borrow my FF 22kg car seat (DS is 17kg currently) so they can put one in the middle and have a functional outboard seat, and she agreed!
I'm so excited, DS has been in a booster since 2y 1m. She has no clue about car seats, and hubby only knows how to install, no laws or weight limits etc.
So I'm very happy that she was open to this suggestion! Hopefully it leads to more teaching opportunities
