Front seat options

We are trying to figure out how to have our friend's 2yo in our car one day a week for quick trips to drop my DD off and pick up at school about a mile and a half from our home. We already have 3 carseats in the back, so we'd have to put my 5yo in the front seat if we did this. I know it's not ideal, but is it even legal? Can we put a harnessed seat in the front? (she's 5.5 and rides in a Radian XTSL regularly). What do we need to consider other than turning off the airbag? (and if we can't turn it off, we can't do it, right?)

The oldest, harnessed child would be the one who needs to ride up front. Sometimes you don't have any other option, and this is the safest possibility if all other rear seats are occupied by other children. I would be ok with it- especially since all other spots are taken. However- if there is an empty carseat in the back, I would uninstall and reinstall as necessary to get all the kids in the back, over putting a child in the front if there were an empty (but installed) seat in the back out of just convenience. (Hope that makes sense- I wouldn't elect to put anyone in the front unless there were kids occupying all seats in the back).

If possible, turn the airbag off. Also, scoot the seat back as far as possible.
