Radian bracing question

Since my Radian is braced against my front seat, is there any reason to use a RF tether?

Also, I just got this Radian65. I love it! I've heard such horror stories about installing these Radians (I've never actually played with one until I got this). I put it in a captain's chair in my 2003 Dodge Caravan, snap the LATCH hooks on, pull the strap, and it is instantly tight! It is SO easy to install, easier than my other seats even.
I installed it in the center of my rear bench today (needed to do a 3-across) and I did have to give the buckle stalk one twist. It was a little more difficult there because it is much harder to pull the belt lying flat against itself but still took less than 5 minutes.

The only things I dislike about this particular seat (which were both fixed in the newer models) is the lack of SIP and the 35lb. RF limit.

Yes. They do different things. The bracing helps prevent overrotation. The rear-facing tethering helps in a side impact and may provide rebound control.

Yeah, I've found Radians RF to be pretty easy in Caravans and clones, for me!

The only things I dislike about this particular seat (which were both fixed in the newer models) is the lack of SIP <snip>.

Remember that there are no standards for SIP. While manufacturer's can market that their seat has SIP, or TSIP, we really have no idea if it does. Rear facing alone provides phenomenal SIP, and as KQ said, RF tethering may also help in the SIP department.

What is the DOM on your seat? Is there a chance that your seat really RFs to 40lbs, and it was just one of the seats that was mis-stickered to 35lbs?

See below:

All Radians with DOM of 12/07 and earlier RF to 33lbs.
Radians with DOM of 1/08 - 8/08 are stickered to 33lbs, but SKJP says they are 35lbs.
Radians after 9/08 RF to 40lbs

And of course, all XTSL's RF to 45lbs, as does the 80SL (RF to 45lbs), but the 65SL only RFs to 40lbs.
