Vent De-lurking: This made me sad

I love this board, but I almost never post anything on here. I have to share something that I saw today that seriously made me want to cry.

My daughter is 3.5 and about average size. She's in a pre-ballet class being offered by my town. Walking out of the building today I watched a grandmother putting her 3 year old GD in her car. This particular girl is TINY! I would guess maybe 32-34" and probably 25 or less pounds. She was being put into a BACKLESS BOOSTER. I just about had a heart attack! I didn't say anything because I've learned to keep my mouth shut. I've been verbally attacked back too many times. I seriously wanted to cry though. That poor little girl! She should still be rear-facing at that size! :hitselfonhead:

Yikes... I know how you feel. I see too many of those all the time. There was one point where I saw a mom who put her looking like 2 yr old in a HBB and I ran back in Target and bought a 40RF and explained to her how keeping your kids RF and HARNESSED is so important and she was so grateful. Now when I see her at Target (which is pretty every month) her daughter is still RF!!!

However that is not the case for many. We need to educate people!

I had someone call today, about boosters for their 3.5 yr old. I explained that boosters are 1.5 yrs away for this girl, but no luck.

At DDs school, she is the only one in her pre-k class that I have seen harnessed. They are all in low back boosters except for one who has a highback. Most of her class is smaller than her too :(

Sadly, this is quite common. Not everyone knows carseat safety, at least not in my town or my son's school. I had to put my foot down and refuse to transport any kids without at least a HBB on field trip. This is for my son's K class (5 and 6 year olds). So I transported ONE kid in my car with my son harnessed in a FR. The rest of the kids in my son's class were in NBB. Very sad. I have also learned to keep my mouth shut. Sigh... :(
