Vent run off the road by a tractor trailer (but we're OK)

The kids and I were coming home down the interstate and were run off the road by a tractor trailer! I am so glad I was paying attention - we ended up completely on the rumble strips and shoulder, despite me laying on the horn to try to get his attention. If I had been distracted at that moment, we would have been hit hard and I don't want to think about what would have happened . . .:(

ETA: I hit post, and then DH came home from lunch and said on the way home, HE was run off the road by a tractor trailer, too! We're not leaving the house for the rest of the day!!!

When I was getting on the highway, he was in the lane I needed to merge into and he got over a lane. Obviously he saw me at that point as he got over. He came back over before I had a chance to either fully pass or fall behind him - I do not like TTs and make it a practice to never drive beside them, but either in front or behind.

I was sideswiped by one yesterday. Luckily my Son and I are okay. Not sure my CRV is, it's undrivable and I need to pick up my rental tomorrow. I am staying as far away from trucks as possible from now on. My Husband used to drive a concrete mixer and always told me never to be next to one because the force of the barrel spinning can tip it over.

Glad you are okay.

yea that is like one of my worst nightares, I have this fear of being next to tractor trailers on the highway, like It makes me hyperventilate...when I have to pass them I am so tense and I am shaking by the time it is over.

I am so sorry that happened to you, I hate those tractor trailers so badly. How does the insurance work for that?
