Is the TF Premier Comfortable for Infants?

I have a tall skinny boy (6 months old, about 28 inches, 18 pounds). I'm trying to find a convertible seat to put him in our Honda Odyssey.

I bought a Radian, hated the install on it, and just didn't like the seat overall. So I got a Boulevard 70, install was great, and he HATES it. He screamed nonstop after I put him in and buckled the harness. I tried 3 days in a row, and I'm guessing he's just uncomfortable. So, I'm thinking of getting a TF Premier. ( I also looked at the CA, but need the strap covers near the neck, because he has a long neck and his head leans to the right.) I hope to rearface him until at least 3 years old, and safety is my first priority, but, is the TFP comfortable for a 6 month old? We'll be taking a 12 hour road trip in 2 months, and I really need a carseat that won't make him scream.

Thanks!

The TFP has a princess and the pea amount of padding in there (just no pea). My baby has used it from day one and hasn't complained.

The Complete Air 65 has shoulder pads. Maybe you could look at that as well?

Thanks. Now I'm waffling between the TFP and CA. :) I read in one post that someone had a skinny baby and the TFP straps slid down their shoulders, so they preferred the CA. That made me second guess the TSP. The only worry I have with the CA is the straps digging into his neck.

I wouldn't worry about a six month old. Laine's strap slipped a few times until she was about three or four weeks old. A six month old is plenty old enough to fit very well.

By six months, there shouldn't be a problem fitting into the CA. So they're both contenders.

We went to BRU yesterday and tried out the CA and CA 65.

I liked:
-It's lighweight, so even little ol' me could carry it
-Harness adjuster was easy and smooth, like our Chicco
-Fabric on the cover wasn't velvety, so he won't get sweaty (it's hot here)
-Our boy didn't cry! He sat in it happily chewing the straps (yuck, wish I had thought to sanitize them before trying it out)
- The colors are much nicer than the TFP (just my opinion)

I didn't like:
-The straps did dig into his neck, even on the CA 65 with it's not-so-plush strap covers
-No base, so I'd have to noodle it
-The chest clip on the sample seat was broken
-Even for a really tall 6 month old, he BARELY came even with the lowest harness setting
-LATCH wasn't built into the seat, it just goes through the beltpath
- No level indicator to get the right angle
- No anti-rebound device

Well, here was the big surprise for me. My DH LOVED it. He told me I should buy it right then and there, and that I could even get the purple butterfly cover if I wanted it. :p

So I did the math, and assuming he stays on the same growth curve (not likely, but it's my only way to guess), he'd outgrow both the CA 65 and the TFP at about the same age. Checked online and the nearest store to us that carries a TF of any kind is 30 miles away. I just couldn't order another seat without trying it. So all of that combined with the fact that both my son and DH loved it helped seal the deal. I ordered the CA 65 LX (in Cadmium) online this morning. We get it Wednesday!

Thanks everyone for your input. :)

P. S. - Dragonmama - Thank you. Your little one is so sweet, what a full head of hair!
