Why we do what we do

I had to share this with all of you in hopes that it will brighten your day like it did mine.

So frequently I get comments to the effect of someone calling me stupid; saying that I don't know what I am taking about. Car seat regulations are just out there so that the companies can make more money, snuggle bags wouldn't be sold if they were dangerous, my son wants to feel like a big kid, on and on. You've all heard it before. Some days I feel so defeated. I wonder if I am really doing any good or if my words are just constantly falling on deaf ears.

Today, I received this:

I just wanted to say "thank you" for posting all the updates with regards to carseat safety. D and I were so anal about buying the safest seats and installing them as securely as possible but we had no idea things had changed with regards to rearfacing. As it was E rear-faced for well over a year but thanks to you, we have him rear-facing once again :)

Her youngest son is now just 2. They rear-faced him to about 18 months, knowing that the law was 12 months and 20 pounds and wanting to exceed that limit. She knew a bit about extended RF but not WHY it was so important. He is now safely RF once again and I am so happy to know that someone heard me.

What we do DOES matter. Even if 1 child is safer for every 50 times that I get called a crackpot that is okay with me.
Little things like this help to motivate me to keep going and spread the word even more.
This is why we do what we do.

You, and all the techs, do a relatively thankless job. But I hope that you get comments like this, or similar, often enough to continue knowing that what you're doing is *very* important and very much appreciated by many, even if you don't hear it.

Thank you for all your hard work & please keep up the excellent job!
