Updated- No Stamp! - Have to go uninstall the carseat again!

I purchased a new Evenflo Maestro because ours was recalled and until I get the "fix" for it I wanted to have two seats usable.

I get the new seat installed. It's brand new, manufactured 10/04/2010. Great! Manual says 8 yrs to expiration, warranty card says 6 years! Now I have to go check the seat itself and see what's stamped on it! Irritating!

Any opinions if things don't match? If the manual and seat say 8 yrs but card says 6 yrs does it matter?

ETA: There is no stamp on the plastic of the seat. Only a sticker that says the same thing - 6 years. My first Maestro had a manufacturer sticker w/ the model number and manufature date then had the expire date stamped into the plastic for 8 yrs. Would it do any good to call Evenflo or should I just take the seat back and find a different one? There aren't many in this town. There was only 1 at Toys R Us. The only other place I know of them is at Sears where I got the first one.

Normally I advise parents to go with the more conservative when there is a conflict, but IIRC, Evenflo has confirmed the 8-year expiry.

I would call Evenflo and let them know of the problem. If they say its good for 8 years (which they probably will), you're fine. If you plan on selling the seat some day, maybe ask if they'll send a letter stating the 8-year-expiration date, or just explain the situation to the person you sell it to.

I certainly wouldn't bother exchanging the seat.

The post you were linked to was mine. I called Evenflo about it. They told me the seat was indeed good for 8 years, not just 6 & to go by my manual. So the answer is to indeed go by what the manual says. Also your seat will most likely say the same thing the warranty card does as that is the way mine is.

Okay so it's not just one seat, its several. The PP above, the seat I bought, and two at Target (display model, and one for purchase). So what does Evenflo have to say about this? Bizarre IMO.

I decided that regardless of what they say, I chose a different seat anyway. Target had the Graco Nautilus (Our primary seat) on sale for $125. I picked up the Garrison color for DH's car. Even though it was more expensive than the Maestro, It will last so much longer (size-wise) and I feel better about the seat/company.
