Maestro recall

so the Maestro has a recall ... I have 3. They say they will send some sort of brace for the back that will fix it. ... I'm not sure how I feel about that? Also, they say until the brace is received children over 40# should use in booster mode. My DD is exactly 40# and is 42". The manual says minimum height is
44". I know the heights are more of a recommendation, and torso height is the most important thing. So, how do I know if she is tall enough to use the Maestro as a booster. I have 1 HBB Turbo ... I could use that instead and just switch between cars in the meantime. What are your thoughts? I don't have any spare high weight harness seats ... I had 3, I thought that was enough.

I'm sorry! That's tough.

Does your daughter sit still during the whole car ride? Has she ridden in the booster enough to know the rules? Is she 40# with clothes on?

I'm a very conservative tech, so I would like to see her in a harness still, but it's your choice. If you feel she's mature enough for a booster, then she should fit fine in the turbo until you get the Maestro fixed. If you are a nervous nelly like me, then you should start looking for a cheap alternative until you get the Maestro fixed. Usually 4 year olds are not mature enough, so I recommend keeping her in a harness, just not the Maestro.

she would ride fine boostered. I've taken her in short trips (1-2 miles) a few times and she was fine. I don't have any plans in the near future that would require anything more than around town. I think I will just use the TB since I know she is well within the limits and not just on the border. She is 40# lightly clothed. I don't have a reliable scale at home to weigh her unclothed.

Have you tried her in the Maestro as a booster? If it fits her well, then I would be fine with using it as a booster with her. I was very plesently suprised to learn that my 35lb 40ish inch tall toddler fit in it GREAT as a booster, even though he is not quite within the minimums to use it as one.

It positioned the lap belt low & the shoudler belt right accross the middle of his shoulder. So, if he was 40lbs, then I would be perfectly comfortable using it as a booster. So, test her fit before deciding against it.
