News Maestro Expiration Date Stamp!

So, I called Evenflo about the recall to make sure mine was okay. I also remembered to ask them about the expiration date stamp only being 6 years, BUT the manual states it is 8 years. It was confirmed that this seat does indeed have an 8 year life span. She (her name was Misty) was not sure why my expiry date was stamped at 6 years instead of 8. She even asked me if I was 100% sure that it was stamped as 2016 & not 2018, Yes I am sure!

She also said they had never heard of this problem. She also went & checked the model they have there & it was stamped as 8 years. So, if you have a Maestro that is stamped as 6 years call them & let them know so that they can be aware of the problem.

Hmm, I have two Maestros sitting in my garage (waiting to give them to my sister next weekend) and I'm sure they have 2016 stamped either on the registration cards or on the seats themselves (or both places). I don't have time to call but maybe I'll send them an e-mail.

Also did you check them for the recall? There have been some that have been recalled. The ones that were manufactured between Nov 24th 2009 & April 9 2010.

Mine were brand spankin' new when I got them - they have a Sept 10 DOM. (But thanks for the good reminder to check.)

YW! Yeah, mine was brand spanking new to. I got it 9-29 & it was manufactored 9-27. So it was only 2 days old when I got it. Are you worried at all that your seats could be affected even though they did not recall them? I wonder if they were changed something between April & now. It just kind of worries me that they are recalling all the ones to April & hoping the ones after that date are truely ok.

OK, I just called, and she told me the same thing she told you, minus the "never heard of that" part. :p

Actually, what she said at first (as she was looking it up) was she thought the seat was correct and that "they just haven't updated the manual yet." Then she confirmed that the manual is correct and the seat/registration card are incorrect.

My nephew is almost 6 and is an only child, so my sister really won't need to use it for 8 years :p but it's entirely possible that it would eventually be used by our brother's son, who is six months old now. (When he's of an appropriate age/size, of course.)
