Can't drive on field trip-- what seat to send w/ DS?

DBF's car died last night so he has to take our main car to work the next few days till his get's fixed. So I can no longer drive on DS1's field trip tomorrow like I had planned. What seat would you suggest I send with DS to school?

He's 7 years old, 49" tall, and 57 lbs. He normally rides in a harnessed FR85 and Regent, but he did use a Monterey this summer for summer camp. Should I just send the backless portion of the Monterey? He's only rode in it as a highback booster so far and was able to buckle himself in on his own. I'm pretty sure none of the other 2nd graders will bring boosters since CA law is 6 years or 60lbs and all of the kids seemed to ditch their seats last year. They will be driving 4 miles to the field trip location, on two main streets, but not on the highway.

What seat did you send up sending with him? What kind of vehicles do they use for the field trips?

This past summer, I had my 8 year old bring her monterey highback for a field trip since I knew the vehicle didn't have headrests. Usually though, I am okay with no-backs for these types of trips.
