I went to take my dd to her preschool field trip this morning. No problem, there's no tethers so I installed her seat RF (she's normally RF in my car) with one of the lap only belts.
This is a 15 passenger van. There are only 5 lap/shoulder positions in the rear. Thankfully, there were only 6 boosters and one was my friend who went home to trade for her Nautilus. Okay so 5 boosters, 5 lap/shoulders. I stayed and helped install seats (thank heavens). They had a convertible buckled through the RF belt path and all the harnessed seats were quite loose. I fixed all of them plus routed the shoulder belts through the belt guides and under the arm rests on all the boosters. Then, she said there are 12 kids, one is riding with his Mother. So where's the other seat? There were only 10 seats in the van. Oh, he forgot his so I'll grab one of our extra boosters from my garage. UGH! Another booster! It's backless (no headrests) and there are NO MORE LAP/SHOULDER BELTS!! They stuck it in there in a lap only position, loaded the kids, and off they went.
I'm SO glad mine is in a harness. I don't understand why they will not listen to me. Have you heard of LIABILITY???
I have a Chase in my garage that I was going to toss but now I think I may try to talk to them and see if they want it for situations like this so they can put the smallest child in it harnessed. Better than a backless booster with a lap belt.
My friend says next time, she'll drive and take my dd with her. Or I can drive and she'll pick up my Kindergarnter for me.
