So I've been thinking...

Since the recommended RFing limit is now to the limits of the seat... does that mean that I'm technically not ERFing? I feel kind of jipped because her feet have been touching the back seat for a while now, and at that point I considered her ERFing.

You are if you want to be. I don't ERF or EBF, because I don't want to be. I feel like these limits shouldn't be imposed on these things. I'm not ERFing my 21-month-old. I'm just RFing her, because it's safer. I'm not EBFing her, I'm just breastfeeding her until we're done. I feel like by adding that I'm doing it in an extended way, it's like I'm saying that I "should" have stopped at 1, but I decided to extend it. Hopefully, that made sense outside of my head. And that's just my thing, i don't expect everyone to feel the same way. Just sharing.

Depends on the seat, I guess? That wimpy Marathon with it's sad 20lbs and 29" minimum FF limit, yeah, I guess you are ERF, if barely. If you had a Dorel with a 22lb/34" limit, or a True Fit with a 23lb min limit, you aren't even close to ERF

(Ok, how did that wee little sparkle in mama's eye get to be 14 months old? :D)

I still say erfing is rfing beyond 20 pounds and 1 year. My baby isn't erfing yet as she hasn't made it to 20 pounds.

Well, I guess technically erf would be rf past the limits of the seat. ;)
Or one could argue that their infant bucket only goes to 22lbs so they followed AAP rec's when they turned their 1 year old around :p.

Personally I consider it erf when you don't turn your kid at 1/20 or whatever your state's laws are.

I considered DD to be ERFing at 1 and 20, because that's my state's minimum (by way of a proper use clause). At the time, the seats I owned all had 1 and 20 minimums for FFing as well.

That's been the recommendation for many a year now. So, um... nothing has changed... If you would have been before, you are now.

But I like Jessica's thinking. I'm not ERFing, I'm just rear-facing her until she outgrows it, or we're done.
