Any opinions or advice on Rav4 with 3rd row?

We are looking at this to replace our sedan. We realy want something with 3 rows of seating and is easy to drive and park. I have driven a Rav4 a few times recently and realy like driving it but have not seen one yet with the 3rd row. Any opinions on this car? How does it handle in the snow/ice of winter? Would you get it for a family with 3 older kids and 2 adults? We are usulay not all in the car together but we need something we can all fit in comfortably. The appeals for this over a minivan are that is it smaller and a bit easier to drive and park and it is up higher so I can see better.

Thanks, Jess.

I found that the third row was very, very small. I could not put my foot on the floor straight. I had to point my toes to the side, because it didn't fit. I wear a size 8, I don't have clown feet. Just for that reason alone, DH and I ruled out the 3-row Rav4. We really like the Mazda5 instead.

I LOVE my '06 RAV4. The back seat however, is pretty useless. I bought the vehicle when my son was 11 and it it worked fine. By the time he was 14, we could still squeeze ONE teenager back there but their legs didn't fit, they would sit back there sideways with their legs in horizontally across the car. I only have two kids so it is ok for us but we really only use the 3rd row for very short trips and when we do, we stand outside and argue about who has to ride in back. My sister who is the shortest usually gets stuck back there, as my 16 yr old son is nearly 6' tall. We looked at the Highlander and the 3rd row on that is really about the same as the RAV4.

You cannot get the RAV4 stuck, it is fabulous in mud or snow. In additon to the AWD, it has actual 4WD and you can pop in into 4-wheel LOW. It has nice high clearance so you don't get hung up on stuff. We had a miserable winter last winter and there were a few times I was the only one that made it into the office - not that this is necessarily a good thing for me, but I'm sure our customers appreciated someone being there! In fairness, I must disclose that my "other" car is an F150 so in comparison, I feel like the RAV4 is a compact car. It is so easy to park and compared to my truck, the gas mileage is wonderful!
