Just wondering

Although it's not going to be for a while, but I was wondering something. This may sound like a slightly dumb question. When I turn my son's SK Radian XTSL facing forwards, is it safe to use my car's seatbelt and the top tether at the same time? Or do I have to still use the LATCH belts with the top tether? I'm sorry if I sound naive, but I want to be sure. This may have been discussed on here in the past, but I am new so I probably did not see the topic/question posted. Thanks. :)

Yes, you always use the top tether whenever you can -- whether you are installing your car seat with a seat belt or the LATCH belts. :)

Please keep in mind that you can only use SuperLATCH to the full limits of your Radian if your car was manufactured after September 1, 2005. Often times, even if your car's model is an '05, it was probably manufactured in the previous year. To be sure of when your car was manufactured, open the driver's door and there will be a white sticker (where your tire pressure and such is listed). Your car's manufacture date will be found there. If your car was manufactured before 9/1/05, then you must stop using LATCH as per your specific vehicle's LATCH limit (which should be found in your car's manual). :)

ETA: I thought I remembered a post by you, and sure enough, I did! You have an '07 Camry, correct? In that case, you should be able to use the Radian with LATCH to the full limits of the car seat (again, always double check the car's DOM before you continue to use SuperLATCH). For future reference, or if you ever plan to install any other car seats in your vehicle, Toyota states to refer to the child restraint's LATCH limit. Also, you only have LATCH in your outer seating positions, not the center.

Thank you very much. Yes I have a 2007 Toyota Camry LE. I have read my car's owner's manual about installing & using carseats in it. I just wasn't 100% sure if it was safe to use the top tether along with my car's seatbelts. Oh and are they calling the LATCH the SuperLATCH now? Did they change the name or was it always like that? I have never heard it referred to as the SuperLATCH until right now.

superlatch is only on the sl line of sunshine kids' radians.

Yep. LATCH is still called "LATCH" on all other car seats. It's only called SuperLATCH on the Sunshine Kid's Radians; that is what the "SL" in "XTSL" (or the other, non XT seats) stands for. :)

SuperLATCH means that you can use LATCH to the limits of the car seat, rather than the limits of the vehicle (provided the DOM of the car is after 9/1/05), but no other car seats have this feature. :)

Thank you very much, I wasn't sure. I feel so naive about some of the carseat safety stuff. It gets confusing and overwhelming. Sometimes I feel like I'm asking dumb questions, but I guess there's no such thing as a dumb question especially when it comes to safety.
