How many times are you driving along, spot horrible child safety practices in the vehicle next to you, and ask yourself "where's a cop when you need one?"...
I was approaching the freeway today and looked over to the guy in the lane to my right. It was a five passenger vehicle with six passengers. Who didn't get the seatbelt? The four or five year old little girl wedged between the driver and passenger seats in the front, sitting on the console. :thumbsdown:
(In all honestly I don't think anyone was wearing a seatbelt.) As I crossed the bridge, I noticed the two lanes to turn and get on the freeway had the red light, but the guy to the right and the other "go straight" lanes had the green light. I slowed down and stopped, unbuckled, and ran up to the cop who happened to be stopped right in front of me at the light!!! :thumbsup:
I said " I don't know if theres anything you can do but that car has a little kid in a lap up front" as I pointed out the car with no license plate
The cop was one I have worked with before and recognized me, he said "thanks" and took off after them. :thumbsup: (This city does frequent roadblocks to randomly check license, insurance, registration, and child safety, so it's actually something most of them take seriously and are pretty familiar with.) As I got back in my car I heard his engine kid it into high gear as he approached the car. I hope he caught up to them.
