We are expecting a 3rd in March 2011 and are starting to look at fitting 3 car-seats across in our 2008 Subaru Legacy Station Wagon.

By then I'll have a 4yr old and 2yr old FF and an infant car-seat RF. Do you know of any combination that would work.

ODS is in a Graco Nautilus right now and YDS is in a Marathon. But there isn't enough room for an infant car-seat.

I'd like to keep both boys harnessed as long as possible.

Can you check your manual? I think it may say that putting a child restraint in the centre seating position is not recommended, for that model.. (if it does, there's a reason for it.) I can never keep my Subarus straight, so don't panic yet but you'll want to look through the manual when you get a chance.

Crap, I did notice on the weekend (I was vaccuming the car) that the back seat isn't level so the middle seat is raised a little.

Here's what my manual says :
C:Rear seat,, center seating position.
Installing a child restraint system is not recommended, although the A/ELR seatbelt and an upper anchorage (tether anchorage) are provided in this position. Some types of child restraints might not be able to be secured firmly due to projection of the seat cushion.

In this seating position, you should use only a child restraint system that has a bottom base that fits snugly against the contours of the seat cusion and can be securely retained using the seatbelt.

So what are my options now? Car shopping?

The [old] Britax Marathon does fit in there with a LOT of work (I've done it) but the problem is that you may have to purchase different seats for your outboard seating positions in order to get three across. There's no easy answer for you--you're going to have to go to a baby store, and try out a number of configurations.
