seat belt issues

so our ford escape has a buckle in the back that is flat facing the wrong way. It is flipped completely backwards. Anyone else have this issue and how did you fix it? The fold and slide the latch plate over did not work, another tech and myself could not get it.

Locking latchplate or sliding latchplate? If it's locking, you need to hold it at the right angle to allow it to slide freely. I also find it works a bit better if you start out with the latchplate as close to the seat bight as possible and work your way up. That lets you pull against the seatbelt anchor.

it is a sliding latch plate and we did start as close to the seat bight as possible, it just will not give
