I've got a Chevy Siverado Pickup. One day my daughter and her three friends all jumped in to the back seat. All four of them fit easily on the bench seat, but I had to let them know that I only had three seat belts, so one of them would have to move up front. But this got me thinking, if four of them easily fit into the back, why not just add another seat belt. They all weigh around a hundred pounds, so I believe using a common anchor point would not be an issue; I'm sure seat belts must be rated for a 200 to 300-plus-pound individual, as this is not uncommon. I'd be using this for transportation to and from school, where the speed limit is 25 MPH, so the safety risk is nil. I'd never use this for freeway travel unless it were deemed completely safe. Can someone shed some light on the legality of this?
