Any rumors for 2011 seats anyone is willing to share?

Since my Britax bubble has recently burst LOL, I'm curious to find out what is rumored to appear in Canada for 2011!

My DD is 9 months, 27" and 16lbs so I can easily make it through the winter with her infant bucket I'm sure.

I was hoping that the TFP might increase it's RF weight limit to 40# ... so anyone in the know as far as the grapevine is concerned?!?! :D

The only thing I would predict is the appearance of the newly redesigned snugride.

New Standards take effect Jan 1, 2011 and I suspect we may see the evenflo rf'ing weight limits be raised.

Other than that, nothing I'm aware of.

I don't mean to hijack OP's thread but what new standards do you mean? :) Thanks!

CMVSS 213 and 213.1 have had some updates made to them. Amongst them the weight limits have been revised - CMVSS 213.1 is birth to 22lbs, CMVSS 213 is 22lbs to 65lbs and walking unassisted.

There are some other changes that have been made to, including our crash test bench being changed, and the requirement of a lap/shoulder belt being used for part of the dynamic crash testing.

Any seat imported in to Canada after January 1, 2011 will have to comply to the new standards.

(I believe there may be a thread around here somewhere with more details if you do a search. :) )

Clek has SWORN that they will be bringing out a FF harness seat in the US next year; they're Canadians so they might bring it out there too, right?

So if 213 is 22-65lbs now....does that mean all convertible/combination seats will have to harness to 65lbs? Does that effect the min weight requirement for boosters at all? Or can parents still legally put a child in a booster at 40lbs?

I'm in the US, so I'm not sure if this info will also apply in Canada, but I thought I'd share just in case. The last time I emailed Learning Curve about upping the True Fit's rear-facing limit to 40+ pounds, I was told that they didn't have any plans to do so (this was at the end of August). They told me that they plan on releasing an infant seat rated to 35 pounds in 2011 (which doesn't seem like much of a consolation to me, since I was hoping for a 40+ pound RF convertible :p).

Boosters are regulated by CMVSS 213.2 and the minimum weight for that is still 40lbs.

CMVSS 213 being 22 to 65lbs simply indicates the ranges of weight that seats may be labeled to. Transport Canada doesn't dictate height or weight limits of individual seats, they simply set standards. CMVSS 213 is child restraint systems which is simply a description of the type of restraint - they may be either rf'ing or ff'ing harnessed seats designed for children within that weight range.

Manuafacturers are free to set the limits of any given seat however they want within the allowed range providing the seat meets standards. So if that means top weight of 40 or 50 or 65 or whatever, that's up to the manufacturer.
