Question I hate my true fit. What now?

I have two dd's currently riding ff in our car (well 4, but the older ones are fine). One is 5.5 yo and 39 lbs, the other is almost 4 and about 35 lbs. We have an MA and a true fit. At first we had Imogen (younger dd) in the true fit as we got the MA first and Enna (older dd) was already using it. Unfortunately every time we drove for more than 10 minutes Imogen would whine or cry constantly that her bum hurt. I decided to switch the girls seats to see if it helped (I was thinking Imogen was just being a whiner). In the MA Imogen NEVER mentions being uncomfortable (and we been on multiple 3+ hour drives) but poor Enna, who usually never complains is SO uncomfortable. I'm extremely frustrated as I had hoped that the TF would last right until booster time but now I think we need a new seat.
We have a Toyota Sequoia, 8 passenger, 2002 SUV. There are 6 people in our family and we often bring a friend. Any ideas for a replacement seat (grrrrr!)?
My highest priority right now is comfort. Oh, and high slots of course. Both my girls are on the tall and definitely thin side.

Thanks!

My DD has the same complaint with her Radian, we are hoping for better luck with the Frontier as she has never complained in any of her Britax seats.

If you're not installing using the UAS, check to make sure that the latch are not poking up and making it uncomfortable to sit. I don't install using latch in my car, and I've had to make sure in the past that the connectors are lying flat down into where they're stored. You can also check the seam right at where the bum goes, to make sure it's smooth, if the velcro was lifted, it might have been put back lumpy.

Sorry to hear your child dislikes it so much. We love our TF!

I'll double check the velcro but I'm almost positive it's not that... I think there just isn't enough padding in the bum area for bony bottoms with no diaper. Imogen complained just as much when she was rf and could put her legs up, so again, I don't think a foot rest would help.

Unfortunately I think we need a new seat. Is the Frontier huge? Like WAY bigger than the TF? DH may not be impressed with me ordering a new seat but he'll be happy to not hear the whining in the car! lol

Thanks again!

Interesting. Have they verbalized specifically what hurts? My 4.5 year old really disliked riding FF in his Boulevard and was super happy when we switched him to our TFP. Much more comfy for him.

Hmmm, they both say "my bum hurts", that's really it. Once, we stopped and took off dd's pants and her bum was very red, it looked as if it was getting pressure sore. I wonder if the TFP is comfier....? More padding? What does make it premier?

What about contacting The Learning Curve and seeing if you can buy a TFP cover for your Truefit. I bought a Radian Premier cover for my Radian and its soooo much more comfortable it fits perfect. Its probably cheaper than getting a whole new seat.

I don't want to buy another uncomfortable seat.... what do people think about the Graco Nautilus? It's 25% off right now at our CT ($180). Is it worth a shot?

I love the Nauti but I was just getting ready to reply that we bought a Radian b/c DS1 complained that the GN "hurts my butt!" Take it for what it's worth though--he loved the TF when he had it. All kids are shaped differently and will have different points of pressure that may or may not agree with certain car seats.

can you take the kids into Canadian tire or Toys R us and let them test the seat out, and find out which ones hurt and which ones dont. (Strap them into them and let them sit for a few minutes...)
