Can I get recommendations, please?

My friend is due with a little boy next month and has asked me for recommendations. She's very picky about what she wants, and I'm running out of options!

She wants a travel system that costs no more than $250 OR An infant seat that is compatible with the Sit 'N Stand that cost no more than $100. She wants it to be dull colors- grays, blacks, tans, etc. Nothing too "loud" if you will. She also wants to be able to find it in-store so she can play with it first and buy it on the spot if she likes it since she's due so soon. So far I've recommended the Safety 1st onBoard 35, along with the travel system version, and the Graco Stylus Travel System in Ben. She loves the Graco travel system but wants something that will fit on a Sit 'N Stand. At first she was looking at an Eddie Bauer infant seat and a Baby Trend Flex Loc 30 but I steered her away from the Eddie Bauer because I've heard (and have personal experience) that it's not a very good seat. I also turned her away from the BT because I've heard it's a major PITA to install.

Help me out here? TIA!

I think your advice is spot on so far. The onBoard 35 is a very nice seat, especially the one with the base with the adjustable foot. I've installed the less-than-deluxe model that doesn't have the adjustable foot on the base and it's a royal PITB.

I had to look up the Graco Stylus--that comes with the SnugRide 35, which is also an excellent choice. I don't know so much about the stroller. It's probably OK.

I do have to say that I owned a travel system for my 1st child who's now 10.5 and tried to carry it over to use for my 2nd who's now 8 and I hated the stroller. It was so bulky and hard to maneuver. I'm sure they've come a long way in the 11 years since we bought the thing, but I'd suggest to your friend that she look for the best carseat she can find then look for the best stroller she can find THEN match them up together.

Is the Sit 'N Stand a good stroller? (This isn't directed just to you, if anyone can answer please do!) She's got a 4 year old and I hear it's a good stroller but I don't have any personal experience with it.

That being said, if the Sit 'n Stand is a good stroller, what seat brands are compatible?

I have a BabyTrend FlexLoc (not sure if its the 30 or not...bought in 2008) and I don't think its a PITA to install at all...in fact, I prefer installing it (with base) over every other baby bucket I've installed, though that's not been very many. If she's interested in that one, I'd have her try installing it in her vehicle to see if its a PITA in her vehicle.
