CCO locking clip question

I know with a switchable retractor you have to use the locking clip but I'm wondering why? Is it to prevent tipping?

I'm wondering this as well. And, are the seatbelts that stay tight at the lap portion, but loose at the shoulder portion switchable retractors, or what?

The Combi rep has said that the manual is unclear, and you do not need to use the lockoff if your belt locks in some other way.

No, those types of belts are locking latchplate belts, not switchables. Switchables have a free slide latchplate and lock at the retractor when you pull the belt all the way out and let it back in.

I think we had talked about that but then I was thinking with all the mention of it lately I thought I was confused. I've been using LATCH so far so it hasn't been an issue. I might need to install it in the middle some day though.
