So, while cleaning up my DH's free Motor Trend magazine that DS1 likes to read something caught my eye:

It turns out this simple go-fast doodad can greatly increase the safety and comfort of children riding in booster seats. Boosters serve to elevate a kid's body so the shoulder belt crosses the chest instead of the neck. They don't typically mount with LATCH hooks, and aren't subject to the regulations covering infant or child seats, so many receive no more engineering than a restaurant booster chair. However securely you buckle a kid in, a few minutes of wriggling and car-body jostling results in enough seatbelt slack to greatly diminish the effectiveness of the belts in an accident
