Will the portable navigator fly if there is a car accident?

My husband was rear ended and pushed into another vehicle. He had a suction cup dock for his ipod stuck to the windshield. No ipod in it at the time though. It stayed stuck. Pics:
as you can see, it's still stuck there. That other thing on the dash is his car stereo. That did fly out of its socket.

So I think it's hit or miss, really. It's not something I personally am willing to risk though.
