Venting: PBS GRIPE

Man, why does PBS always run the emergency broadcast signal during Sesame Street! I mean what are they trying to do, condition kids to that annoying sound? Why can't they do it during adult shows? It just seems like everytime that thing goes off, he's just falling asleep, and then BEEP BEEP, and no more nappy:mad:

It does always do that, at which point Jackson starts screaming which makes my other three-four kids scream which makes me mad :hitselfonhead: I hate PBS when it happens. Why can't they do that when they are having those fundraisiers

Eureka!, that's it, it is subliminal fundraising-they probably figure that parents will call to complain about the annoyance, then while they're on the phone they can hit them up for a few bucks! Brilliant:ROTFLMAO:

there's a no TV rule for kids in our house (doesn't apply to parents after 9:00pm ;)), so i can't say it's ever been a problem... and despite the dreaded fundraising, i still love PBS...

Our PBS station conveniently doesn't do that. However, it does spend Wednesday mornings airing County Commission meetings that are also airing on the local channel at the exact same time.

I hate Caillou, but darn it, I like to actually have a few minutes to attend to my own personal hygiene without having indignant children appearing at the bathroom door every 5 seconds to express their displeasure at my having left the room.

We watch Sprout -- all the same shows, but no annoying commercials & no Emergency Broadcast System....

I can stand Caillou, I already have 3 whiney children in the house. All the kids love Seseme Street (even I do). Sure beats the doodlebobs (annoying loud music) which is a phase one of my little girls is going through. Jackson loves Blues Clues. They all also like the Mickey House Club House and Little Einsteins. I promise we do watch that much TV, but thats what it sure sounds like.
