My neighbour was recently in a collision, insurance said get a new car seat and hand in the crashed one. They got a (Canadian)Safety 1st 3 in 1, their daughter is somewhere around 40lbs and is only 2 1/2. So she is really close if not surpassed the harnessed seat limits and nowhere near booster ready. I had given the mom a list of HWH and she really liked the Complete Air, but Dad didn't trust the air pockets and thought they might burst. Then when I was over at their house yesterday I saw that they had kept the crashed seat and handed in their backup seat instead:thumbsdown: I've already told mom that if they use their crashed seat again, they're using whoever rides in it as a test dummy and that the seat could fail, but it'll take a lot more than that to get dad to change his mind.
