Possible new Oregon Legislation

Make sure to read the whole thing! Kids 4-8 require a booster and under one year required to be rearfacing! It could be law in Oregon. Crossing my fingers!

If you are in Oregon, please write our legislators to tell them you support this! I am appalled at the Republican response and I usually side with the Republicans. Not this time! The last comment is ridiculous.

I will email them every single day if I have too!

I haven't read this yet, but my instructors talked about this in class! :D Under 1 and under 20 pounds must be rear-facing, kids up to 8 (and isn't it 4'9" as well?) must be in boosters, kids 12 and under must ride in the backseat, AND they would be taking away the exemption that allows transportation of more passengers than seating positions. I SO hope this passes! I need to set aside a day soon to write some letters.

"If I'm out getting my Christmas tree and shove an extra person into the back of my Suburban, I'll be breaking the law," said Rep. Kevin Cameron, R-Salem.

 DARN RIGHT you'll be breaking the law, and you SHOULD be breaking the law, doing something so stupid. How can intelligent, successful people not understand what will happen in a crash with an "extra person" in the vehicle?

This is the one that I was MOST appalled at. If these people that are against this did ANY research, they would see why this legislation is needed. People who don't know what they should do and those that won't do what they need to do need this bill. A lot of people just follow the law. This bill is about so much more than just having kids sit in the back, which they should. It is about saving lives. This legislation has the potential to save so many lives, plus cut down on the costs of taking care of severely injured children.

There was just another fatality on Oregon roads this morning. :( I found the addresses of not only my legislators, but everyone in Oregon. I will write a thousand letters if need be!

Sure thing! Here is the link for you:
http://www.leg.state.or.us/findlegsltr/home.htm
Input your zipcode only, it will give you more people to contact. It pops right up with the info to not only write them, but email and call them! There is even an example of how to start a letter to the legislators. Let me know if this does not work and I will try to find the ones for your area!
