Frontier vs Frontier 85

So I've decided that except for the lower top slot, I prefer the old Frontier. I feel as though it is better made than the new one and it seems to be easier to use. Am I the only one?

Oh no! Really? I was just thinking of selling mine for an 85, dd1 is almost even with the top slots on her 80 and she's ummm...a squirmy kid.

Maybe I should keep my original for dd2....

The new one just seams less cheap, if that makes sense. The height adjuster is very nice. I need to go play with the harness. The original sucked. I replaced the original, and it is better, but I want to see if the 85 is better than that. I did not play with the cover yet, to see if there is the same issue you were talking about. I was not planning on having this seat 24 hours ago. Blame Codi, she sells things.

Oh, and the cup holders. The 80 sucks. The 85, much better. Not sure when I will be installing both. I am still in pain and my back seat is full of car seats. 9, I think.

I must have a knock off seat then... mine feels so cheap. I agree, the cup holders are better.

The placement of the cup holders on the 85 make me not interested in it. My son likes to sit criss cross and would be hitting the cup all time.

I definitely prefer the 85! I had the original and sold it to get the 85 for DD. She's long in the torso and I want to keep her harnessed a while longer, which was the main reason for the switch. However, I also wanted the nicer cupholders. On the original they were unusable because of the contour of my seats, which really made DD upset. We  our 85! If I could pick any seat on the market for her, I'd still choose this.

Here are comparison pics of my DD in the original and the 85. You can see in the pic that she has her legs crossed just fine with a water bottle in the cup holder. She's very thin and leggy.

I think I figured out what I don't like about the cover. Mine seems bunchy on the sides and doesn't stay under the red tabs near the arm rests. For some reason the ones on my old frontier work better.

I loosened the harness on the 85 and pulled forward on the cover. It didn't move. There is elastic on the sides, by the hips.

Hey Judi, when you get a chance, could you try the 85 on that suburban bench you have in your garage? In the center? I've been dying to know how it fits. (I'll make you cookies...)

I feel for whatever pain you're in, I had a root canal and crown post put in yesterday and the whole left side of my face is swollen!!!
