MR or new MA?

Hi,

We drive an '09 Odyssey and my son is 19 months and 29 lbs. He's currently RF in a 30 lb RF limit (Canadian) MA. I want to buy a new seat to keep him RF.

Originally, we just tried him in the grandparents' AOE that has a 35 lb limit - but he hated it. Usually he enjoys car rides, but in the AOE he would fuss getting in, then spend most of the time whining and/or screaming. We kept the AOE in the car for a week, then I put the MA back in and he's been back to his usual happy car-riding self.

I was all set to buy a Radian, until I thought about the experience with the AOE. I think part of the problem was that it sat lower on the seat and he couldn't see out the window very well. The Radian would be worse for that. Also, I am a bit concerned that the straps would be too close together for his comfort (he's quite broad-shouldered).

So now I'm thinking about getting either a MyRide or waiting for a new Marathon the end of September. Any thoughts? I know there are definite concerns about the ability of the new MAs to ERF - how much longer would a MR likely last? And I'd especially like to know of anyone with a MR in an Odyssesy's captain's chair to hear if the view is good from it.

Price is not a huge issue in terms of what we can afford, but for what it's worth, we could get a MyRide now at TRU for about $100 between the 20% off trade-in event and gift cards that we have. A new MA would be about $250 or so.

Thanks!

Well, I have not seen a new MA but I thought the base was lower on it than the old MA so he might not be able to see has well.
