Hypothetical that might happen....

The other day, I was dropping off the child with whom we carpool. When I went to close the door, the locking mechanism was stuck and wouldn't let the door close. After messing with the door, locking and unlocking a zillion times... the door started working again. I was thrilled b/c I didn't want to have to drive with my door tied shut. I'm not sure what went wrong but I know if I take the car to the shop they won't be able to replicate the problem and taking it in will end up being a waste of time. So, I guess I will continue to drive the car to see if it happens again. If it should happen again, I'd want to leave the seat by the door empty. If I have my two children in the car + the carpool, I'm wondering how I should handle the situation. Obviously DS2 who is RFing can't go in the front due to the airbags. Would you move DS1 who is in a Frontier? He's about 46 lbs and 4 years old. Or would you move the carpool child is who 4 as well but about 30-32 lbs and sits FFing.. He sits in a Radian in my car. Which would be the safest person to put in the front seat in an emergency situation.

If a child has to go up front, I'd go with the larger 4yo in the Radian: we know it performs okay untethered and we don't know about the Frontier (it might be better, it might be worse, but we don't know, and I'd rather go with what I *do* know).

That's what I was thinking but DS2 is slightly above the top slot. I know that is acceptable with the radian but I was thinking w/o a tether and with an airbag... That might change things.
