rear facing in Element

I just did a seat check today and installed a britax boulevard RF in an element. Installed fine, but my question is this:

Is it okay to have the back seat reclined to give the 2.5 year old more leg room? The senior checkers said they thought the back seat has to be totally upright when a seat is installed.

Any ideas? I'm not talking reclined flat... just about a 45 degree or a little more.

You mean the vehicle seat, right? It should say in the vehicle manual if there are requirements for a certain seat position when installing carseats. 45* sounds like an awful lot of recline to me, though.

I mean the vehicle seat. The seat is rear facing... tethered to the back of the front seat.

I'm talking the back of the back seat (where the kids feet is resting in when RF).

The family will be getting the child in through the back (Trunk) and they asked if they could just keep the back seat slightly reclined so that it would be easier to get him in or out.

I didn't get a picture.. although I should have. (They left the seat check with it upright, but I told them I'd check)

Have them check their vehicle's manual. Some cars say yes, some say no, some say they have to be at a certain click for a carseat installation.
