    beyond 100th percentile child

My 3 almost 4yr old is between 85 and 90lbs. He is also at least 45 inches tall. I need to move him to a booster but am having a lot of trouble finding a seat wide enough to fit him. I have been to Walmart and Babies R Us to try their demo models but they don't fit. They all have armrest type things that make the seat too narrow. I'm on a tight budget and am running out of time to find one due to us moving in a couple of months overseas. I am open to suggestions.

Will you have a top tether overseas? A child of that size still has a four year old skeleton. A booster is far from an ideal choice. What have you tried, though? Just what BRU has in stock? I'd look at the Sunshine Kids Monterey and the Britax Parkway SG. Especially the Parkway, as it has the SG strap, so it's a four point harness for him.

Another option is to get an EZ-On harness, and use it with a booster. But you need a tether for that, and not all overseas cars have tethers. I think you'd need a heavy duty tether anchor anyway, and I don't know if you can put it in a foreign car (if they have spots for it, or you could find a dealer or mechanic that knows what to do).

Are there any medical issues to be aware of when making recommendations?

What had he been riding in?

I wonder if an Apex would work? You would have to make sure there is head support behind the seat though.
