Expiration on Graco Snugride

Ok so I know that usually the car seats expire 6 years after man date on sticker. I just checked our snugride and it was manufactured March/04 so technically it's expired right? Then on bottom of shell close to the sticker it says do not use this seat past dec 2010. So do I go by the sticker date or the imprint?
We need a seat for our baby born in Oct so we could only use the graco for a couple mths but then can borrow a combi seat from a cousin who will be done with it by then. Or should I just do it and buy a new seat altogether. Was thinking of getting the britax chaparone since our children are usually pretty big at birth so I wanted something that would last a bit (8 and 9 11.5)longer than the typical infant seat.
What would you do??

Because it's a winter baby, and you say you have big babies, and your current seat will expire about 8 weeks after baby is born, I would look at getting a new Graco SS1 (if you can still find one), a Snugride 32, or a Snugride 35. You can check dearbornbaby.com for sales on the 32. I think last time I checked they had a good deal on them.

Yes, the Canadian Chaperone is limited to 22lbs only.

ETA: nope, sale on 32 at dearborn looks to be over. It was a 32 in Gianni pattern for $139ish. They must be out of stock now.

I've always used infant buckets with my babies, and I've never bought one myself, LOL. And yes, every single one has been trustworthy. It's saved me several hundred dollars at least. I would just use the Graco & then borrow the Combi (as long as you trust your cousin) and see how it goes. If it works out, you'll have a couple hundred $ extra for something else.
