Love the CCO...but...

I love the CCO, but it is such a shame it has such a short usable life. I put my friend's child in it today. He just turned 4 but he is at least head shorter than my 4 year old DS. He really is a peanut. He's just over 30 lbs. Even he is over the top slots on the seat. He still has plenty of headroom... it would be nice if they have another slot so he could actually use the extra headroom space. Do they not do that b/c the seat cannot handle the weight being distributed higher up... or b/c the shell isn't strong enough for another slot... or b/c the height space is really for RFing? I have permission for the pics even though you really can't see his face.

What are the top slots on the CCO? Is it 15"? 14.5" like the Scenera?

I'd really like to know, seeing as how DS is coming up on 5yo and his torso is still under 14". The nearest CCO (as far as I know) is a good 37mi away :(

Top slots are 15 in. My 4 year old had JUST outgrown it at 4 and 40#s. He was dead even with the top slots. I think it really just depends on torso lenght.

it isn't meant to be an extended use seat. No one seat can do everything. We want 6 inch bottom slots, 20 inch top slots, wide enough for bigger kids, but small as to cushion smaller kids, a harness that is tight on noobs but wide at the neck for 6 year olds, erf to 45, ff to 65+ with a 28 inch shell, but we dont want it to take up any front to back space and we want it to be narrow enough to fit 3 across a Yugo but yet wide enough to accomodate a 65 lb 6 year old. Also, can it have awesome SIP, tons of foam, cute covers, be light enough to carry yet titanium-reinforced, and cost $45?

It's impossible. The CCO is a TINY seat meant for situations where a TINY seat is needed. IT's good at doing what it does. It doesn't pretend to be the only seat you'll ever need.

I totally understand the purpose of the CCO, I just worry that parents will think that after the CCO it is booster time. Not many parents want to buy another harnessing seat. I'm just saying that if the top slot was a tad higher and took advantage of the shell length it would help.
