wrong?

"Upcoming events and activities...

August 13th , Car Seat Check-up Event: 90% of car seats are installed incorrectly. Is yours? A certified Car Seat Technician will be at our Public Health Center (851 East West Connector) from 1-4pm to do safety checks on seats that are already installed OR to install a seat provided by the vehicle owner."

That is from the Health Dept...my friend had told me they installed her seat for her when she was pregnant. I know that they installed my sisters seat for her when she was pregnant 8 years ago and used carpet/rug gripper under the seat and a pool noodle and did it for her. (I have now moved out of town since then.) but when my friend first came home from the hospital she told me the health department had installed her seat for her...I looked at in her car and had to play with it(Graco SR base) it had the gripper under it with the recline out and pool noodles under it!!! So I drug her outside(don't forget she had just came home the day before!) and RIPPED the gripper out from under the seat and when she saw how loose the base was she freaked out. So I got dad out there to install the seat tightly and gave her the pool noodles from under my sons seat(he at the time was 11 months old and it was a 3 noodle wrap.) and had him put the recline on the base up because I do not like the way it reclined on her seat and dad got the install super tight and nice!! well they went back to this car seat check and had someone install the seat for them again!!! UGHHH!! people learn how to install your own seats!!

Im sorry this started as a Question but I got lost and this is now a Vent...

I hate that installing the seats for the parents vs teaching them to install themselves isn't really covered in the tech course. I was paying attention to this aspect in my class, and it wasn't covered. I've worked with at least a dozen techs since becoming certified (none from my class), and only one teaches rather than does. That one is a tech from this site.

The hospital tried installing my seat for me after I had my son(non tech and had no clue what she was talking about!) I went off because I had learned how to install a seat the seat myself and she said I had to use LATCH with the belt in the center position...Well neither of those are allowed my manufature so we got into it before I left yet again.

I like to say "I am a CPST and would be happy to help you install your seat"

That way, I can show them how and then I take it out and make them do it. Just like we're taught.

Well they install it for you and put a great gripper under it so it don't tear up your CLOTH seats. Cause you know all those sharp edges on your car seat could cut it right up. Heck you can use the gripper for your house when your done with it. I like the way you word it. Although I do give them props on one thing im sure most would disagree they try to push RF to 15-18 months. I know not much of a difference but it's more than the hospital says. My friend really shocked me the other day when she told me that she had told her hands lady that she was going to RF to the limits of the seats! When the lady asked her why she would do that she said in a very serious voice "Because I do not want *babies name*s head flying off in a wreck!!" HAHAHAHA!!! she misunderstood internal decapitation..she really does try. That is why she thinks the tech should install the seats it "better" that way.
