We need are getting a new to us vehicle in the next month or so, and have been looking at the mazda tribute. From what I've read in other posts, it's pretty good for getting 3 across. My question is has anyone tried a lowback booster (daughter is 9 and needs a new one, so not sure what brand yet), a Nautilus (4.5 year old, 42 pounds) and a Scenera ( 22 month old, 21 pounds)?

You may have to play around with which seat goes where, and possibly add a Radian into the mix.. but three across in a number of configurations is possible in the Tribute. I used to put the centre seat in with LATCH (allowed, per Mazda/Ford in the Tribute/Escape) and then go from there :) I think a Radian in the centre with LATCH would give you a tonne of space on either side, although you can probably work things with the Scenera rear-facing in the middle and the other two outboard.

Thanks! We'll definatley try before we buy the vehicle. Any ideas on what booster would be best?

We're going on Tuesday to try the carseats in the vehicle. I want to have a new booster for oldest DD (9 yo 50 lbs). Our walmart doesn't have a great selection and there are not other stores close by. I can get either a low back turbo booster or a low back cosco seat. Which is the narrowest and easiest to use?

Also, I will try first witht he RF Scenera in the middle. Am I best to use the LATCH or seatbelt for that seat? I will likely use the seatbelt for the Nautilus and put it behind the passenger seat.

I prefer using LATCH in the centre of the Tribute (keeping in mind that almost ALL vehicles do not permit centre LATCH use without dedicated anchors--Mazda does for the Tribute).. and then you cannot use LATCH outboard, because you're already using one of two of those anchors...not to mention, when getting three across you have more room to shift the outboard seats along a seatbelt path versus the static location of the anchors with a LATCH install.

Of course, you can use the seatbelt in the centre as well :)
