Question car seat reccomendations? 2 ERF

my kids are currently ERF in Sceneras. i'd love to get something with more leg room, as it's getting to be a pain to buckle around my two year old's legs. he hasnt complained or anything about it, but its hard for ME to buckle him because his legs are there, and he's short! hes been on the low percentages forever so its not like he's super tall, its just that the Scenera doesnt have much leg space. i want them both ERF as long as possible, i dont have a specific age/weight

Bear is 2 yrs 4 months. He weighed 25 pounds at his 2yr appt, and has alwase had weight trouble so i seriously doubt if he's much more, if any, than that. He's alwase been around the 12% for weight, gains very slowly and usually only because his dr has me give him pediasure for extra calories. His is 31.5 inches tall, 11.5 inches torso height. he's on only the second slot from the bottom in the scenera.

Dot is 1 yr, 3 months. She weighs around 23.5 pounds and has been consistantly in the 80-90% for weight. She is 29 inches tall, 10.5 in torso height.she is also on the 2nd slot from the bottom in her scenera.

I'm really thinking of graco myrides, they look like they have more leg room and they seem comfy. i cant go try them in store, my walmart and kmart do not carry them in store and have a limited selection of car seats. there are no other stores that sell car seats for 250 miles in any direction. so i'm more than likely going to have to order online and hope they work great, so reccomendations would be really helpful! my bugdet at the moment isn't more then aorund $150-170 per seat, but if there is a seat you think would work better for us, reccomend it,i can alwase save a little longer. i was also looking at the radian 65s because they are taller shell?

i drive a 1999 dodge durango

I love the legroom my 3.11yr old has in the True Fit (she has Premier). I could even try it in my husband's 2000 Durango next week if you want. She also has a TON of legroom in the EFTA, but the knobs are a pain outboard in the Durango (though it's perfect in the center), so maybe the Momentum.

My two skinny kiddos love the True Fit as well. We have the regular one in Casino and it is beautiful. They both have tons of room to grow height wise and plenty of weight room left. My 3.5 year old is is currently 30lbs but was 23lbs at 2 years so if your little ones grows pretty slowly then you'll get to 4 rear facing. I just got another one in the mail today for Grandparents car. I was able to get it from Diapers.com for $147...with a price match from Amazon.

i've had many people tell me that diapers.com won't do price matching anymore :(

my son does grow very slow. my daughter, well, not sure yet, she just turned 1 in may so i know she'll slow down now but just not sue how much, she was a much bigger baby than my son was so she may be a bigger toddler as well.

I actually like the leg room in the Scenera lol. It doesn't offer tons but definitely more than others. For your little one, I'd go with a True Fit before a MyRide. the leg room is very similar but the extra 5lbs that the MyRide offers won't be needed and the True Fit has higher top slots and a much taller shell so it will last longer. My son turns 3 next month and had less than an inch to grow both RF and FF in his MyRide but has tons of growing room height wise both RF and FF in the True Fit. Since your child is so tiny though either seat will probably work. I just like the extra growing room that the True Fit has.

Actually..... I wonder if the EFTA would fit next to the Scenera. I can put a Snugride next to the center EFTA. I'll have to find a Scenera to try it. But I will try my TFP in the Durango next week.

Personally I would get you son a new seat now since you know he grows slower and always has. With your daughter being in the 80-90% I would wait with her new seat, you may want something different once you know how she is gonna grow. I would wait a few months for hers, say Jan, since you are not having issues with hers right now.

Your son sounds like mine, very slow grower here too. Mine was 24lbs at 18mon and was that way at his third BD. When he went to Dr about a week later he had gained 3lbs in a week!

I would try/look at the My Ride, Evenflo Triumph Advance, True Fit, Complete Air & possibly an Avenue. K-Mart had the Evenflo Triumph Advances & Avenues marked down. The Triumph was about $30 & the Avenue about $18. If you have a K-Mart close by you could check it for those. Mine were out of them.

I think the True Fit or pretty much any seat would work for your son as he is so little. The True Fit may wind up not having enough weight on it for your DD though, but there is no way to tell right now. I would say that 23lbs at 15 months is pretty average though, not overly huge. So it may work for a good long time for her as well.

i went to my kmart this afternoon to look but they did not have either the triumph or the avenue you mentioned :(

no she is not so huge now, she had been in the 80-90% all the way to her 1yr appt but she hasnt had one since so i dont know her % right now, though weighing her on the home scale she doesnt weigh much more than 23 now, which i credit to becoming mobile [started crawling at 11.5months and walking at 14.5m] but my son wasn't 23 pounds until 20 months so she seems so much bigger, already wearing 2T clothes while my 28m son is only wearing 18m clothes lol, i have been taking the gender neutral jeans out of HER drawer and giving them to my son to wear

I tried my True Fit Premiere in my 2000 Durango today. It fit wonderfully, outboard. I took the headrest off to install, and then couldn't put it back on because the Durango wasn't tall enough though, lol. The seat was in toddler recline (ie- not for a newborn), and with the headrest off the front seat could be all the way back. With the headrest on it might have needed to go up a tad.

If Sofi outgrows her EFTA by height before she gets too close to 35 pounds, I might get a TFP for the Durango.

I didn't see this posted but maybe someone else mentioned it. If you order a seat from Walmart.com, they will ship it from site to store I think for free. Plus, you can always return them to the store if they don't work for you. Maybe order one MyRide from Walmart, see how it fits and how you like it and then decide if/when to order another.
Plus, they have a TON of seats online that they do not have in stores. They might even have the TrueFit
