Anyone else have this problem- Radian?

Ds's boot on his xtsl will not stay. I was told by Russ today to take a phillips head screwdriver and tighten the metal tab back down. It is spring loaded and it came loose and would not stay in the slot on the bottom of the seat. About 3 hours later I went to take the seat out of the car and it is back the way it was.

Of course, what did he say about what I can do if I cannot get the base to stay? Nothing, but that it is safe to use without it, and they crash tested it that way... the reason they say it is required is because it makes for a "perfect" install everytime.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Oh how I love Russ.

Anyway, if I cannot get it to stay I may have to turn ds on the way home. I have the other xtsl in the explorer, but I brought it incase ds wet his seat (he's potty-training). I didn't bring the boot for it since I could just move the one on ds's seat over (actually that is my excuse since I forgot it, but that's my story and I'm stickin' to it :p )

Me me me! Just had a thread on it last week, maybe? That's EXACTLY what was happening to mine.
Anyway, I emailed and thankfully got to deal with... Kristen, I think, instead of Russ (I was keeping my fingers crossed!). She emailed me a new boot right away, no questions asked (Besides my address, lol.) I was pointed to another thread right after that (I'll try to locate it again) that explained it wasn't actually a safety hazard, but I feel better with the new boot anyway. I've actually had the seat uninstalled since I discovered the problem as my charge is out of the country with his mother and I needed room for boosters, so I'm only guessing at this point the new boot doesn't have the same problem. The tab does seem much firmer though on this one, not wiggly like the old one - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
Holy cow, that turned into a book! Sorry!

Wait, what? We don't HAVE to use the RF boot? Can we use noodles to help with recline?

No, you cannot use noodles. It's not permitted in the manual, and despite Russ's insistance that we can all just willy nilly add whatever we want, or not use whatever we want  it's *really* important that we follow what the manual says. Right now the manual says the boot is required for rear facing. So in spite of eleventy billion of us wishing we could ditch the boot or take a hack saw and slice half of it off  we have to keep using the boot, as is, when our seats are rear facing.
