protecting seat during potty training?

DD is potty training this week(we are on day 2) and I havent been able to get a sitter so that I can run errands- grocery store and bill paying) and I dont know if she will make it that long, even if I split the trips, without having an accident. I can deal with a mess in the store, but how do you suggest protecting my Radian? I thought about sitting her on top of a cloth diaper and folding is in front of her between her and the crotch buckle. What is the consensus on that? And would it even work anyway? What do people usually do when they have to leave with a newly potty training 2yo?

I still have pull ups but I'm wary of putting them on her and in a sense letting her use them instead of a potty.

My DD didn't get confused when we used Pull Ups at that stage, but if you are worried, you can buy some Chux pads and put one underneath her in the seat. They are thin and absorbant.

Put waterproof training pants on OVER her underwear. She will still feel wet, but it won't go through to all of her clothes/all over her seat. This should be fine for errands.

I used the piddle pad by Sunshine kids (dry seat? I forget what it's called). It hasn't gotten wet yet though. We also carry a small potty in the car and he's asked to use it every time so far.

We used the waterproof training pants over underwear in early days. My son HATED them. But he doesn't like pull-ups much better (we do use them when out, but most of the time they stay dry because he waits until he can use a potty!)

I'll have to try the waterproof ones. Hopefully I can find some today. So far there have been more accidents than successes so I think I will be using the pull ups for today.

Thanks Maedze!:) I was thinking about getting one of those! I think I'll have to order one, but thats fine with me. At least its approved for use with the seat. It'll probably be nice to have when we come home form swimming too! lol I was not happy when DH put her in her seat soaking wet the other day.

Question though- it looks like the sides come up a bit, wouldnt that interfere with the lap portion of the harness? Or are there slots that I don't see?

I honestly don't remember, but I don't recall it causing a problem when I used them a few years ago.

I have the dry seat. It is no thicker than a diaper cover. I have no qualms about using it. I don't know how well it does for puddles. My dd tends to be damp and it's good for protecting against that.

We used a small waterproof pad. I only ever had to take apart the whole seat once for an accident. We did EC for our youngest two, and we did a lot of pulling over for about six weeks before we were all comfortable with the cueing.

I have the sunshine kids piddle pad as well - works great, we had one accident and our car seat stayed dry

:yeahthat: Just make sure if you are using a pull up all of the underwear is inside of it. I got to clean a Radian cover recently because I didn't check this and the underwear wicked the pee into the cover.

I always bring a little potty with me with newly pt kids. It takes way too long to pull over, unbuckle and get into a store.

I just have to brag that we were gone almost 2hrs and when we got home her pull up was dry! I tried to get her to potty while we were out, but no success. But I was so proud of her for staying dry and using the potty when we got home.

I have the SK Dry Seat too, but I find it doesn't work great for a boy. DS pees through the hole for the crotch strap. I actually put the Dry Seat on & then put the belly pad on over top so I only have to wash the Dry Seat & the belly pad.
