Is cover fading (from the sun) ever a defect?

If so, at what point? I have an 8ish month old PKWYSG in my DH's car. I never go anywhere near his car and when I did today, I was shocked at how faded the cover was. It's an onyx and it looks like it is at least 3 or 4 years old. I was expecting it to look almost brand new with regular fading from one summer. I do plan on putting a towel over it from this point out or telling DH to keep it in his trunk. Sorry I didn't think of that from the beginning. :( DS has used it about 3 times in the last 6 months.
Is this ever a defect? I expect fading and I don't get surprised when a car seat becomes faded but this seems really excessive. I also don't want to call Britax over something as trivial as a fading cover. But I am pretty ticked off that my rarely used, less than a year old car seat looks like a $5 yard sale piece.

I wouldn't consider it a defect, exactly -- to me, that implies something that makes the seat, well, defective. I would consider it a valid warranty issue and would ask for a replacement cover.

P.S. Love the seatbelt bag pic!

Agreed. It's definitely not defective.

And thank you! She was in it all day, I was carrying her around the house, doing chores, swinging her around, etc. That was probably the greatest day of her life. :p
