Crud. She's shorter than I thought she was.

Is there a minimum height to use the Frontier 85? If so, what are your opinions on it? I mean I know that over all height is not actually indicative of much of anything when it comes to car seats and it's more about seated/torso height. BUT, if a kid is under a minimum...what are your thoughts? She's 36 inches btw. Dang it. Her proportions are changing though, so I thought she was getting taller. She looks leggy now, compared to how she used to look. We've been planning on a Moo Frontier 85 when they come out.

ETA: Nevermind. I found it. It's 30 inches. Wow, that's pretty short for a FF, but ok. Please feel free to discuss however if you so wish:p.

The minimum height for the Frontier is 30 inches per Briatx's website.
My 37 inch 3.5 year old fits beautifully in my opinion. He just barely fits RF in our BV to give you a torso height image.

I thought the minimum height for the fr85 was 30" in harness mode. It's 42" for booster mode but I assume you're buying it for harness purposes?

Yea, harness purposes. She can't booster yet. She's too lightweight and too short, lol. Even a turbo doesn't really fit her well yet. And really, I just want Moo. :) I just wanted to make sure she wasn't too short to use it. I was afraid the minimum for the harness would be too tall or something.

ya, when my tiny miniature little son was barely a year old, and only 20 lbs and about 29 inches tall, he FIT beautifully in the frontier, right at the first set of slots, almost over them. It really is built for small kids. He was too young and too light and too short to use it per Britax, and years away from being allowed to use it per ME, but he *FIT* really, really well.

My short-ish (30th percentile) 2 year old is just shy of 34", so 30" does sound kind of short considering they have a 2 year minimum age requirement. That would be less than 3rd percentile for a 2 year old, so really tiny. Interesting.

I think the belief seems to be that it isn't as much size as it is physical maturity that's important. Just because a 2 y/o is in the 3rd percentile for height that doesn't mean the child is any more physically fragile than a 2 y/o in the 97th percentile.

Until you go into boosters and seatbelts, where you have to be big enough to fit the restraint.

I get what you're saying about the age - my point was just that since they already have a 2 year old minimum age, they might as well have a minimum height that is more realistic for a 2 year old, kwim? But I guess they didn't want to leave out the 1% of 2 year olds that might actually be only 30". Or maybe it's just because 30 is a nice round number. :)
